Zalando joins Sereact’s $116M robotics round
Zalando has joined Sereact’s Series B as a strategic investor, pairing fresh capital with a major real-world environment for warehouse robotics.
Warehouse robotics companies need more than capital. They also need messy, high-volume operating environments where their systems can learn, fail safely and prove that they work outside controlled demonstrations.
What happened
Zalando joined Sereact’s Series B as a strategic investor, bringing the total financing to $116M.
Sereact develops a physical-AI platform called Cortex, which helps robots interpret objects and carry out warehouse tasks such as picking, sorting and handling returns. The company says more than 200 of its systems are operating in production and have completed over one billion picks. Those operating figures are company-reported.
The investment gives Sereact a closer relationship with one of Europe’s largest ecommerce and logistics operators. Zalando runs complex fulfilment networks with large product variety, rapid inventory movement and high return volumes.
Why it matters
Robotics systems improve when they are exposed to real operational complexity. A strategic investor such as Zalando can provide not only funding, but also data, deployment opportunities and feedback from live warehouses.
That can help Sereact move faster than competitors relying mainly on pilots or laboratory testing. It also gives Zalando a closer view of technology that could reduce handling costs and improve throughput across its logistics network.
The bigger picture
Large retailers increasingly see warehouse automation as strategic infrastructure rather than a standard outsourced service. The next phase of competition may centre on who can deploy adaptable robots across varied inventory and unpredictable workflows.
Sereact still needs to prove that its software can scale reliably across many facilities. But the combination of venture funding and a large potential customer is a stronger commercial signal than capital alone.
