York Space Expands Into GEO Defence Missions
York Space Systems expanded its prime integration portfolio into geosynchronous Earth orbit through US Space Force missions.

Space-domain awareness is becoming a critical defence layer as satellites become more strategically important.
What happened
York Space Systems expanded its prime integration portfolio into geosynchronous Earth orbit through US Space Force Tetra 3 and 4 missions, referred to by York as Nemesis. The missions support space-domain awareness and have cleared Delta Critical Design Review.
Spacecraft delivery is planned for Q4 2026.
Why it matters
This is not a venture round, but it is a meaningful space and defence deployment signal. Geosynchronous orbit is strategically important because many communications, surveillance and national-security assets operate there.
York’s expansion shows commercial space companies moving into higher-value defence integration roles beyond lower-orbit satellite buses.
The bigger picture
The space economy is becoming more defence-linked. Companies that can provide reliable spacecraft, integration and mission support for national-security customers may become key infrastructure providers in the next phase of space competition.
