X Adds Trading to Stock and Crypto Cashtags
X has expanded Cashtags in the US so users can move directly from market discussion into stock and crypto trading through participating brokerages.

X already hosts a large amount of real-time financial discussion. It is now shortening the distance between seeing an investment idea and acting on it.
What happened
X expanded its Cashtags feature for US users to connect market conversations with trading through participating brokerages.
Initial partners include Interactive Brokers, Moomoo, Gemini, Kraken and Coinbase.
Users can move from content about a stock or cryptocurrency into an execution flow without leaving the broader X ecosystem.
Why it matters
Financial social media has always influenced trading behaviour, but execution usually happens in a separate brokerage app.
Integrating the two creates a more direct funnel from attention to transaction. That can increase engagement and commercial value for X, but it also raises questions about impulse trading and how financial promotion is presented.
The bigger picture
The launch fits X's broader ambition to become a financial-services platform rather than only a social network.
Payments, trading and financial content are converging across consumer apps. The companies that already control attention may increasingly try to capture the transaction layer as well.
