Wistron opens $700M US AI factory
Wistron has opened a $700M Texas facility to manufacture Nvidia AI systems, bringing more of the advanced-compute supply chain into the US.

The AI infrastructure race is creating a new wave of manufacturing investment around the systems that turn advanced chips into deployable computing capacity.
What happened
Nvidia supplier Wistron opened a $700M manufacturing facility in Fort Worth, Texas, its first factory in the US.
The plant is producing Nvidia Grace Blackwell systems and is expected to manufacture future Vera Rubin hardware.
Wistron says the facility uses digital twins and AI tools to optimise production and factory operations. Its role is not to fabricate the chips themselves, but to assemble and integrate them into complete computing systems.
Why it matters
Advanced processors are only one part of the AI-hardware stack. They must be combined with memory, networking, cooling, power components and server systems before customers can deploy them.
That integration capacity is becoming strategically important as demand increases and buyers seek shorter, more resilient supply chains.
The Texas plant also responds to pressure to place more AI-hardware production inside the US rather than concentrating manufacturing in Asia.
The bigger picture
AI has become an industrial-policy story as well as a software and semiconductor story.
Governments and companies are investing across fabrication, assembly, data centres, electricity and cooling. Suppliers that can manufacture complete systems reliably may gain bargaining power even if they do not own the underlying chip architecture.
Wistron must now prove that US production can meet cost, quality and volume requirements in a market where the hardware roadmap changes quickly.
