Health-system AI adoption now has a shared regional roadmap spanning Europe and Central Asia.

Health-system AI adoption now has a shared regional roadmap spanning Europe and Central Asia.
What happened
The 53 member states of WHO's European Region adopted a roadmap for AI in health covering 2026–2033. Priorities include governance, safeguards, data infrastructure, workforce capabilities and implementation support. The roadmap is a policy framework, not a new binding law.
Why it matters
Healthtech businesses may encounter more coordinated expectations around evidence and interoperability. The framework itself does not establish individual procurement budgets or approve specific products.
The bigger picture
Scaling health AI requires institutions, data and evaluation alongside technology. Progress will depend on national implementation and the ability to demonstrate value within real care systems.
