French fintech Wavo has raised €10 million to help businesses unlock working capital tied up in unsold inventory.
What happened
The company announced new financing with backing from investors including Eurazeo. Wavo provides inventory-backed financing to businesses that need liquidity before goods have been sold. Its platform combines inventory assessment, software and financing structures so companies can borrow against eligible stock rather than wait for cash conversion through sales. Wavo says it has financed roughly €35 million of inventory linked to nearly €100 million in customer sales, with individual facilities typically ranging from about €200,000 to €2 million. Those figures are company-reported. The new capital will support expansion in France, technology development, hiring and potential international growth.
Why it matters
Fast-growing retailers and manufacturers can run into cash constraints because they must purchase additional inventory before existing stock converts to cash. Inventory financing can smooth that working-capital cycle and let businesses grow without relying entirely on equity.
The bigger picture
The opportunity is attractive but risk-sensitive. Wavo must assess the quality and liquidity of financed stock and manage losses if goods sell more slowly or for less than expected. Its differentiation will depend on underwriting, speed and technology rather than the financing concept alone.
