Vaxdyn raises €11M to test AMR vaccine
Vaxdyn raised an €11M Series A to fund the first human trial of K-VAX, its vaccine candidate targeting antibiotic-resistant bacteria.

Antimicrobial resistance is turning vaccine development into an increasingly important part of the global response to drug-resistant infections.
What happened
Spanish biotech Vaxdyn raised an €11M Series A led by Biovance Capital, which invested €4M, with the European Innovation Council Fund and Arcano Partners’ Impacto Andalucía vehicle also participating. The financing will support the first-in-human Phase 1 trial of K-VAX, Vaxdyn’s lead vaccine candidate.
Why it matters
Antibiotic resistance reduces the effectiveness of existing treatments and creates pressure to develop new drugs. Vaccines attack the problem from another direction by preventing infections before antibiotics are needed, potentially reducing both disease burden and selective pressure for resistance.
The bigger picture
AMR is gradually attracting more specialised biotech capital as governments and investors recognise that new antibiotics alone are unlikely to solve the problem. Preventive technologies, diagnostics and alternative therapies are becoming part of a broader anti-resistance toolkit.
