Uber Buys ezCater for $2.3B
Uber is acquiring workplace-catering platform ezCater for $2.3B in cash.

Uber is moving deeper into business food delivery with a large acquisition aimed at workplace catering rather than everyday consumer orders.
What happened
Uber agreed to acquire ezCater for $2.3 billion in cash. ezCater connects businesses with more than 140,000 restaurants and has processed more than $2.5 billion in gross bookings over the past 12 months.
Uber plans to integrate the platform with Uber Eats and Uber for Business, extending its reach into corporate meals, meetings and events.
Why it matters
Catering orders are much larger and more predictable than the average food-delivery transaction. That can improve unit economics while giving Uber a stronger foothold with employers already using its business products.
The acquisition also expands Uber beyond the consumer delivery market, where growth is mature and competition remains intense.
The bigger picture
Delivery platforms are increasingly looking for adjacent revenue pools rather than relying only on restaurant orders from individual consumers. Corporate food, travel and expense workflows offer recurring demand and larger transaction sizes.
ezCater gives Uber both a specialist network and a customer base that would have taken years to build organically.
