Tutor raises $75m for working robots
Tutor Intelligence raised a $75m Series B to expand robot-model training and the manufacturing and deployment of Sonny and Cassie.

A robot can start doing useful work before it reaches full autonomy. Tutor Intelligence is building its business around that idea, combining deployed machines with remote human assistance.
What happened
Tutor Intelligence raised a $75m Series B led by Andreessen Horowitz, with Union Square Ventures and Neo participating. The financing brings its total capital raised to $117m.
The funds will support robot foundation-model training and the manufacturing and deployment of its Sonny and Cassie robots. These systems work in manufacturing and logistics environments, with remote operators providing input and helping generate real-world training data.
Why it matters
Industrial tasks vary across facilities, products and operating conditions. Deploying robots into those environments can expose the situations that models need to learn, while human assistance helps bridge gaps in capability.
Tutor sells robot work by the hour or by the item picked, handling deployment and maintenance. That structure can reduce the upfront equipment purchase required from a customer.
The bigger picture
The commercial challenge is to make the whole service work reliably. Robot performance, human support, maintenance and deployment costs all contribute to the economics of each customer installation.
The financing backs both model development and physical delivery. Progress will be visible in useful work completed consistently across more facilities, rather than in a laboratory demonstration alone.
