Tumbleweed raises €6.9m for commercial orbital laboratories
A company that wants an experiment in orbit may not want a spacecraft project too.

A company that wants an experiment in orbit may not want a spacecraft project too.
What happened
Tumbleweed has raised a €6.9 million seed round led by PactVC.
The company offers modular laboratory pods aboard its Oasis orbital platform, enabling customers to run experiments without developing their own spacecraft. Its first mission launched in July with four customers.
Why it matters
A shared orbital laboratory can take some of the spacecraft development work away from customers. That could make microgravity experiments more accessible to research teams and companies that have a scientific question but limited space expertise.
The bigger picture
The commercial test is repeat demand for experiments that benefit enough from microgravity to justify the cost. An initial customer mission is a concrete step, while a repeatable laboratory service requires dependable operations and useful results.
