A long-established home-security business is the target of a major technology-focused acquisition.
What happened
Thrive Holdings agreed to acquire ADT in an all-cash transaction worth approximately $7.6 billion in equity value and $15.3 billion in enterprise value. The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2027, subject to the required approvals and other conditions.
Why it matters
The proposed acquisition combines an installed customer base and service network with capital for product and operational development. The agreement is not a completed acquisition.
The bigger picture
Technology investment increasingly includes buying established operating businesses. Whether that model creates value depends on execution across products, service quality and customer retention.
