Temporal Raises $550M at $12.55B Valuation
Temporal raises $550M as durable execution becomes critical infrastructure for AI agents and distributed software.

Temporal has raised $550 million in a Series E at a $12.55 billion valuation as demand grows for infrastructure that keeps long-running software and AI workflows reliable.
What happened
The round was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners. Temporal builds open-source and cloud infrastructure that helps applications recover from failures without developers writing bespoke retry and recovery logic. Its technology is increasingly relevant for AI agents and other distributed workflows that may run for minutes, hours or days and need to resume safely after interruptions.
The company says Temporal Cloud now serves more than 4,300 customers and has crossed a $250 million annualised revenue run rate.
Why it matters
AI agents introduce a new reliability problem. Unlike conventional request-response software, agents may call multiple tools, wait for external events and execute long chains of actions. One failure can break the entire workflow unless state and recovery are handled correctly.
Temporal is positioning itself as part of the infrastructure layer that makes those systems production-ready rather than merely impressive in demos.
The bigger picture
As enterprise AI matures, value is shifting toward the less visible infrastructure that makes autonomous software dependable: orchestration, observability, security and recovery. Temporal's valuation suggests investors increasingly see durable execution as a foundational layer of the agentic software stack.
