Tallia raises $4.5m to bring AI research and drafting to tax teams

What happened
London-based Tallia, formerly Revax, has raised $4.5 million in seed funding, reported as approximately €4 million. Investors include Outward VC, the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and Portfolio Ventures.
The company develops AI research and drafting software for tax professionals. Its approach connects answers to legislation, HMRC guidance and case law, with tools covering research, drafting and review.
Why it matters
Tax advisers need to check how an answer was reached before using it in client work. A product built around that review process addresses a more specific requirement than generating a plausible response.
The bigger picture
ICAEW's involvement brings a professional body into the company's investor base. The next test is sustained use within tax firms. Reported time savings and benchmark improvements should remain attributed claims rather than guarantees of accuracy.
