Tacta Opens Singapore Robotics Production Hub
Tacta Systems has opened a Singapore production and engineering hub for tactile data technology designed to help robots learn dexterous human tasks.

Tacta Systems is scaling production of technology designed to capture something robots still struggle to learn: the feel of human manipulation.
What happened
The company opened a production and engineering facility in Singapore to manufacture its Tacta Glove. The device captures force, motion and temperature data from human tasks and combines that information with video through Tacta's Skill Capture system.
The company is also working with A*STAR's Institute of Microelectronics to increase tactile-sensor production and plans early customer deployments in electronics, automotive and AI infrastructure manufacturing in 2027.
Why it matters
Robotics models need high-quality physical-interaction data, especially for dexterous manipulation. Video alone cannot fully capture pressure, contact or grip forces.
Systems that record human touch and movement could therefore become important training infrastructure for robotic hands.
The bigger picture
Physical AI may develop its own data economy. Just as labelled images helped accelerate computer vision, tactile and manipulation datasets could become a critical input for the next generation of industrial and humanoid robots.
