Sonic Fire Raises $15M for Fire Defence

Sonic Fire Tech is a climate-resilience story rather than a conventional software round. The company is working on prevention hardware for a risk that is becoming harder to insure, price and ignore.

What happened

Sonic Fire Tech closed a $15M seed round led by The O.H.I.O. Fund, with Khosla Ventures reinvesting and existing backers Third Sphere and AirAngels continuing support.

The company develops infrasound-based fire-defence systems. Its technology is aimed at preventing or suppressing fires using sound waves, a very different approach from traditional firefighting tools.

The practical market is broad: homes, utilities, industrial facilities, data centres and infrastructure assets are all exposed to rising fire risk. As climate conditions intensify, fire prevention is becoming a property, insurance and resilience problem.

Why it matters

Wildfire risk is no longer only an environmental issue. It affects housing, energy grids, critical infrastructure, insurance costs and business continuity.

That makes prevention technology more attractive, even when the approach is technically unusual. If Sonic Fire can prove reliability in real deployments, it could fit into a wider resilience stack alongside detection systems, grid monitoring, vegetation management and emergency response tools.

The bigger picture

Climate tech is moving beyond carbon reduction into adaptation. The market increasingly needs tools that help people live with the physical effects of climate change: fires, heat, floods, droughts and grid stress. Sonic Fire’s round is still early, but it reflects a broader investor interest in technologies that protect physical assets before damage happens, not only after disasters begin.
