Solinide Raises €4M for AI Data-Centre Photonics

AI infrastructure is often framed around GPUs, but the next bottleneck may be how efficiently data moves between chips, servers and racks.

What happened

Swedish deeptech company Solinide Photonics raised €4M in seed funding to commercialise silicon nitride photonic integrated circuits and microcomb technology for AI data-centre and telecom interconnects.

Its technology sits in the data-movement layer of infrastructure. Instead of only improving compute, Solinide is focused on optical components that can help move information faster and with lower power consumption across high-performance systems.

Why it matters

AI workloads are pushing data centres into a bandwidth and energy problem. More chips do not automatically translate into better performance if data movement becomes slow, hot or expensive. Photonics is one route to reducing that friction.

The round is small compared with the day’s mega financings, but the market signal is clean: investors are looking beyond model labs and GPU clouds toward the less visible components that make AI infrastructure work.

The bigger picture

The AI data-centre stack is turning into a full industrial supply chain. Chips, power, cooling, networking, storage and interconnects are all becoming investable layers. Solinide fits the part of the market trying to make AI infrastructure more efficient at the physical level, not just through software optimisation.
