Slate Auto prices simple EV truck at $24,950
Bezos-backed Slate Auto priced its simple electric truck at $24,950 and opened preorders.

Slate Auto is taking a very different route from premium EV brands. Its simple, lower-cost electric truck tests whether affordability can reopen the EV adoption story.
What happened
Bezos-backed EV startup Slate Auto said its electric truck will start at $24,950, excluding additional fees.
The company also increased the estimated base model range from 150 miles to around 205 miles and opened preorders.
Why it matters
This is a mobility market signal.
EV adoption has been pressured by price, range anxiety and premium positioning. Slate is betting on a stripped-down, customisable truck that focuses on affordability rather than luxury features.
The bigger picture
The next EV growth wave may not come from more expensive flagship models. It may come from simpler vehicles that make electric transport feel practical and reachable for a wider market.
