Sierra buys Takeoff for long-running AI agents
Sierra’s acquisition of Takeoff adds technology for AI agents that can manage customer workflows lasting across multiple channels, systems and days.

Sierra is moving beyond short customer-service conversations toward agents that can own more complete workflows over longer periods.
What happened
The enterprise-AI company acquired Takeoff, a startup building agents capable of completing multi-step customer processes across voice calls, messages, websites and internal systems.
Financial terms were not disclosed. Takeoff’s team is joining Sierra to work on Horizon, Sierra’s platform for customer-facing agents.
Takeoff says it had reached nearly eight figures in revenue before the acquisition, although that figure is company-reported.
Why it matters
Many current AI agents handle narrow tasks such as answering a question, changing a reservation or retrieving account information. Real customer workflows often continue over several days and require coordination across multiple systems.
Takeoff was focused on that harder problem: maintaining context, following up and progressing work even when the customer or company is not continuously present.
The bigger picture
Enterprise-agent platforms are beginning to consolidate specialised capabilities through acquisitions. Rather than building every workflow technology internally, larger companies can buy teams that have already solved a specific interaction problem.
The acquisition also raises expectations for what customer-service agents should do. The market is moving from conversational interfaces toward systems that are measured by completed outcomes.
Sierra’s challenge will be maintaining reliability and clear accountability as agents gain permission to take more actions without constant human supervision.
