Salesforce moves to acquire Cresta
Salesforce signed an agreement to acquire Cresta, adding voice agents and conversation intelligence to its customer-service ambitions.

Customer service is becoming a meeting point for established software platforms and specialist AI startups. Salesforce’s agreement to acquire Cresta brings that competition directly into the phone call.
What happened
Salesforce signed a definitive agreement to acquire Cresta, whose platform combines AI voice agents, assistance for human representatives and conversation analysis.
The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of Salesforce’s fiscal year 2028, subject to regulatory approvals and other customary conditions. Salesforce did not disclose financial terms. Following closing, Cresta is expected to continue supporting the contact-centre and telephony platforms its customers use.
Why it matters
Voice agents need more than a natural-sounding conversation. Resolving a customer’s problem can require account history, access to business systems and the ability to complete an action correctly.
The proposed combination would connect Cresta’s conversation technology with Salesforce’s customer records and service workflows. That could make integration an important part of the product proposition.
The bigger picture
Specialist AI companies can build strong products around a particular interaction, while larger software platforms already own much of the surrounding workflow. Acquisitions are one way to bring those capabilities together.
For customers, the practical questions concern reliability, integration and continuity across existing systems. The agreement sets a direction for Salesforce’s service business, but the transaction still has to close before the companies can deliver a combined offering.
