What happened
Finnish VTT spinout S-Transistors raised a €2.6M pre-seed round led by Lifeline Ventures.
The company is developing superconducting transistor integrated circuits intended to help scale quantum computers. The funding will support prototype development, lab work, pilot-line activity and team expansion.
Why it matters
This is early-stage and small, but technically interesting. Scaling quantum systems requires better control electronics, wiring, power management and manufacturable components, not just better quantum chips.
S-Transistors is targeting that supporting hardware layer, where incremental improvements can affect system size, reliability and scalability.
The bigger picture
Deeptech funding often moves into infrastructure before end markets are fully ready. In quantum, startups building enabling components may matter as much as the companies trying to build the full computer.
