Rillet Raises $100M for AI Accounting

Rillet’s $100M Series C at a $1B valuation shows AI-native finance software moving closer to core system-of-record territory.

Rillet Raises $100M for AI Accounting

Rillet’s new round is a clean enterprise-AI signal: finance workflows are one of the places where AI can move from assistant layer into core operating software.

What happened

AI accounting startup Rillet raised a $100M Series C at a $1B valuation. The round was led by Iconiq, with Andreessen Horowitz and Sequoia returning.

The company says it now serves more than 600 customers and has raised more than $200M to date. Rillet is building accounting software for modern finance teams, positioning itself against legacy enterprise resource planning and accounting systems.

Accounting is a high-friction workflow: invoices, close processes, reconciliations, reporting, audit trails and compliance all depend on structured data and repeatable processes. That makes it an attractive target for AI-native software, but also a difficult one because mistakes are expensive.

Why it matters

The most interesting part is not that Rillet uses AI. It is that the company is trying to own the financial system of record. That is a much deeper position than providing an AI assistant on top of someone else’s accounting software.

If AI-native finance platforms can automate close work, improve reporting and reduce manual reconciliation, they could become sticky infrastructure. But they also need trust, accuracy and auditability before CFOs will fully rely on them.

The bigger picture

Enterprise AI is becoming more vertical and workflow-specific. The winners are less likely to be generic chatbots and more likely to be products that understand the rules, data and exceptions of a specific function. Rillet’s valuation shows investors still believe finance is one of the clearest places where that shift can create large software companies.
