Relu raises €1.51M for dental AI

Not every useful AI product has to look like a general-purpose assistant. Some of the strongest early adoption may come from narrow professional workflows where the pain is repetitive, technical and expensive.

What happened

Leuven-based Relu raised a €1.51M strategic investment from Dental Innovation Alliance.

The company builds AI tools for dental workflows using 3D scans, including support for guides, crowns and night guards. The goal is to automate parts of dental design and production workflows that are time-consuming for clinics, labs and specialists.

Why it matters

Dental AI is a practical category because the workflow is structured. Clinics and labs already work with scans, treatment plans and repeatable design outputs. That gives AI a clearer path to usefulness than in many broader healthcare settings.

The round is small, but the signal is specific: investors are still backing vertical AI tools that save time inside professional workflows, even when the market is not as flashy as hospital systems or drug discovery.

The bigger picture

Healthcare AI adoption often depends on trust, regulation and workflow fit. Dentistry may be one of the more realistic near-term areas because the tasks are visual, repeatable and linked to production. Relu shows how AI can enter healthcare through focused tools rather than giant platform promises.
