Red Cat Makes €205M Offer for Steyr Motors
The US defence-tech company has offered €39 per share for the Austrian engine maker to bring propulsion technology into its autonomous systems portfolio.

Red Cat has launched a voluntary cash offer valuing Austrian engine maker Steyr Motors at approximately €205 million in equity value.
What happened
The offer is €39 per share. Steyr develops engines used across marine and defence applications, including propulsion relevant to Red Cat’s autonomous military systems. The transaction remains subject to a minimum acceptance threshold, foreign-investment clearance and other customary conditions.
Why it matters
Owning propulsion technology could give Red Cat tighter control over a critical component in its autonomous platforms. It would also add an established industrial business with customers beyond Red Cat itself.
The bigger picture
Defence-tech companies are beginning to integrate vertically as they scale. Acquiring established component manufacturers can strengthen supply chains, but it also adds capital requirements and operational complexity.
