Reconova Takes Airport Robotics Global

Reconova is expanding its airport-focused embodied AI beyond China, using baggage handling and passenger processing as commercial entry points for robotics.

What happened

The company showcased its AntOne baggage-transfer robot and AI passenger-processing systems at an airport-industry event.

Its platform combines vision foundation models, visual agents and embodied robots for airport operations. The company says its technology is already deployed at more than one-third of China's civil airports and is pursuing expansion into Southeast Asia, Central Asia, the Middle East, Europe and Japan.

Why it matters

Airports offer unusually structured environments for physical AI. Baggage movement, passenger processing and operational checks involve repetitive tasks with clear routes and procedures, making them suitable for automation.

At the same time, reliability requirements are high because failures can disrupt tightly coordinated operations.

The bigger picture

Embodied AI is likely to commercialise first in constrained environments rather than fully open-ended settings. Airports, warehouses, factories and logistics hubs provide the predictable workflows where robots can generate near-term economic value before more general-purpose systems mature.
