What happened
Chinese startup PsiBot is reportedly close to completing nearly $100M in financing at a $1.48B valuation.
Chery Automobile is expected to lead the round, with Lens Technology among the prospective investors. The transaction was still being finalised when reported and should therefore be treated as an unconfirmed financing rather than a completed round.
PsiBot develops world models using data collected through custom hardware, gloves and humanoid robots. The aim is to train systems that understand and act within physical environments rather than only process text or images.
Why it matters
Strategic automotive investors can offer something conventional venture firms cannot: factories, machines, supply chains and large volumes of physical interaction data.
That access could help PsiBot train and test models in industrial settings where performance can be measured against real tasks. It may also create a route into manufacturing applications before general-purpose humanoid robots are ready for consumers.
