Polar raised a $5.7M seed round led by Madrona.
The company is building an AI browser designed to automate tedious knowledge-work tasks. That puts it inside a fast-growing category of products trying to turn the browser from a passive interface into an active workflow layer.
The pitch is simple: many office tasks already happen across websites, dashboards, forms, documents and SaaS tools. If an AI system can understand those surfaces and take actions across them, it could save users from repetitive tab-hopping and manual copying.
Why it matters
This is not a huge round, but it is a useful signal because the AI browser category is becoming strategically important.
Browsers are uniquely positioned because they sit between users and almost every software tool they use. That makes them an attractive place to build agents for research, admin, data entry, sales tasks, support workflows and personal productivity.
The challenge is differentiation. Large platforms are already adding AI into browsers and operating systems, while startups are racing to build more focused agentic experiences. Polar needs to prove that users want a new browser layer, not just AI features inside the tools they already use.
The bigger picture
AI agents need a control surface. For many knowledge workers, the browser is the obvious candidate.
If the category works, browsers could become less like windows onto the internet and more like command centres for work. But trust, reliability and permissions will matter. Users will not hand over real workflows to agents that click the wrong button, leak data or misunderstand context.
Polar is early, but the direction is worth watching.
