Pocket raises $11M for AI note-taking hardware

Consumer AI hardware has had a messy year, but focused devices are still finding demand when they solve a real workflow.

What happened

Pocket raised $11M for its AI note-taking device, a card-shaped recorder designed to capture conversations and turn them into notes, summaries and action items.

The startup is backed by Y Combinator, and the round included Accel, Y Combinator and ElevenLabs CEO Mati Staniszewski. The company says it has sold more than 130,000 units since launching last year.

Why it matters

This is a cleaner consumer AI hardware signal than vague “AI companion” gadgets. Note-taking has a specific job to do: capture real-world conversations and turn them into useful memory.

That makes the value proposition easier to understand, especially for workers, students and teams dealing with meetings, calls and interviews.

The bigger picture

The consumer AI hardware market may not be about replacing phones. It may be about small, focused devices that make AI easier to use in specific moments.

Pocket’s traction suggests the winning hardware layer could be simple on the outside, but deeply tied to software workflows underneath.
