Spanish launch company PLD Space added €108M to its Series C, bringing the round to €288M and cumulative funding to about €488M.
The company is developing launch capability around its MIURA 5 rocket programme and moving toward the capital-intensive phase of commercial launch operations.
Why it matters
Launch companies need far more than engineering talent. They need testing infrastructure, manufacturing capacity, regulatory approvals, launch sites and enough capital to survive long development cycles.
PLD’s extension shows that private European spacetech is still attracting major funding where the strategic need is clear.
The bigger picture
As satellite demand grows, access to orbit becomes both a commercial and sovereignty issue. Europe’s launch bottleneck creates opportunities for private companies, but only the best-funded and most technically credible teams are likely to reach regular service.
