PitchBook has launched new agentic products and a Data MCP designed to bring private-market information directly into AI-powered investment workflows.
What happened
The company announced expanded PitchBook AI capabilities alongside PitchBook Data MCP. The agent features are intended to turn recurring research tasks into scheduled workflows, including watch-list monitoring, company briefs, market maps, earnings analysis and investment-committee preparation. The MCP product allows customers to expose selected PitchBook company, deal, investor and fund data to proprietary AI systems and external model environments without manually exporting the information. PitchBook says the MCP is available to customers on request, while expanded agent functions are scheduled for the fourth quarter.
Why it matters
Private-market research has traditionally been tied to databases, spreadsheets and manual analyst workflows. MCP-style access allows agents to query institutional data programmatically, potentially automating parts of sourcing, diligence, portfolio monitoring and reporting.
The bigger picture
The competitive advantage in investment AI may come less from generic chat interfaces and more from proprietary data that agents can access reliably. PitchBook is attempting to make its dataset machine-actionable while preserving the value of its underlying information network.
