Pine Services Group acquires UK enterprise-software provider Datel as consolidation continues around established business systems.
Some of the most valuable enterprise-software businesses are not building fashionable new products. They control the implementation, support and customer relationships around systems companies already depend on.
What happened
Evergreen’s Pine Services Group acquired Datel, a UK provider of Sage business-management software and related consulting services. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Datel has operated for more than four decades and serves mid-market and enterprise customers. Pine plans to retain the company’s existing team, customer relationships and specialist expertise while supporting further growth.
Why it matters
Enterprise-software service providers often generate recurring revenue through implementation, maintenance and long-term support. Their customer relationships can be highly durable because replacing core finance, operations or planning systems is expensive and disruptive.
That makes companies like Datel attractive consolidation targets. They also sit close to the practical adoption layer where established businesses introduce new automation, analytics and AI capabilities.
The acquisition is therefore not only about existing Sage revenue. It also gives the buyer a channel into customers that may need help modernising older systems.

Private investors continue to consolidate specialised software and IT-services providers.
