Penelope Health Secures $100M Commitment
Penelope Health has secured a $100 million funding commitment to expand healthcare policy and payment infrastructure.

Penelope Health has secured a large funding commitment to build infrastructure around one of the least visible but most expensive parts of US healthcare: payer rules and payment administration.
What happened
The company announced a $100 million funding commitment from Thoreau and existing investors including Bertelsmann Healthcare Investments, Twine Ventures and Seedcamp.
Penelope maintains real-time intelligence on insurer coverage policies and says its data spans policies covering roughly 200 million people in the US. The new partnership is intended to support infrastructure around healthcare payments and constantly changing clinical and reimbursement rules.
Why it matters
Healthcare providers spend significant time interpreting coverage criteria, prior-authorisation rules and payment policies that vary across insurers and change frequently.
Turning those rules into structured, machine-readable information can reduce manual work and make software systems more useful inside revenue-cycle and care-delivery workflows.
The bigger picture
A large part of the healthtech opportunity sits behind the clinical interface. Startups are increasingly targeting the administrative infrastructure that determines whether care gets approved and paid for. Penelope's funding shows how valuable clean, current policy data can become as healthcare companies deploy more automation and AI across operational workflows.
