Peak Energy raises $108 million to scale sodium-ion storage
GM Ventures led the financing for manufacturing expansion and the company’s move into data-centre power infrastructure.

Alternative battery chemistry needs an industrial path to market. Peak Energy’s $108 million Series B supports that next stage for its sodium-ion storage platform.
What happened
Announced on 21 October, the round was led by GM Ventures, with participants including Maverick Silicon, Infinite Capital, Eclipse, Xora Innovation and LG Technology Ventures.
The financing supports domestic manufacturing and expansion into data-centre power infrastructure. Peak develops passively cooled sodium-ion energy-storage systems for grid applications. This is an earlier financing included as a catch-up, rather than a new 30 October event.
Why it matters
Storage customers need dependable systems, supply and service alongside a promising chemistry. Manufacturing scale is therefore central to whether the technology can become a meaningful alternative in stationary energy storage.
Data centres add another potential customer group, but demand alone does not resolve qualification, delivery and cost requirements.
The bigger picture
The commercial test is production that meets customer specifications and can be delivered economically. Capital supports that work; it should not be treated as proof that manufacturing capacity or product performance has already reached the company’s targets.
