Optivolt raises $32M for adaptive solar electronics
VXI Capital leads Optivolt's $32 million Series A to expand manufacturing of electronics embedded inside solar panels.

What happened
Optivolt raised a $32 million Series A led by VXI Capital, with participation from RA Capital, Valo Ventures and Atlas Innovate. Its Power Balancer embeds electronics inside a solar panel to manage power between groups of cells and recover output otherwise lost when parts of the panel are shaded, dirty or degrading unevenly.
Why it matters
Solar-project economics depend on the energy a system delivers under real operating conditions. Improving output within the panel could reduce losses and simplify some surrounding hardware. Optivolt says more than 20,000 panels using its technology have shipped, while its detailed efficiency and comparative-output figures remain company-reported rather than independently verified.
The bigger picture
The round will support manufacturing and deployment across residential, commercial and utility projects, including installations serving data centres. Optivolt is betting that panel-level intelligence can become part of standard solar architecture. Reliability over a panel's long operating life, manufacturing cost and independently measured energy gains will determine the technology's commercial value.
