Odyssey Raises $74M for Distributed Energy Finance
Odyssey Energy Solutions raised $74M to expand financing and marketplace infrastructure for distributed renewable energy projects.

Odyssey is targeting one of climate tech’s less glamorous bottlenecks: getting distributed energy projects financed, procured and actually built.
What happened
Odyssey Energy Solutions announced $74M in new financing, split between $27M in equity and $47M in debt.
The company operates a platform that connects distributed renewable energy developers with financiers and equipment suppliers across more than 50 countries, with a particular focus on emerging markets.
Distributed energy projects often involve smaller developers, fragmented local demand, equipment procurement challenges and financing structures that do not fit neatly into traditional project-finance processes. Odyssey is trying to standardise more of that workflow so projects can move from proposal to deployment faster.
The debt component is important because this type of platform does not only need product investment; it may also need capital to support project financing and deployment volume.
Why it matters
This is a strong climate-finance infrastructure item. Much of the energy transition is not blocked by a lack of ideas, but by a lack of coordination between developers, lenders, equipment providers and local project owners.
In emerging markets, distributed renewable systems can be especially important because grids may be unreliable, expansion can be slow, and commercial or industrial customers need cleaner and cheaper power options.
Odyssey’s model sits between software, marketplace and finance. That makes it more operationally complex than a pure SaaS business, but also potentially more defensible if it becomes a trusted layer for project origination and execution.
The bigger picture
Climate tech increasingly needs financial infrastructure, not just better hardware.
The companies that matter may be the ones that make project deployment repeatable: underwriting, procurement, monitoring, financing and asset management. Odyssey fits that theme by turning distributed energy into a more investable and scalable workflow.
