Mitti Labs Raises $9.5M for Rice Resilience
Mitti Labs raised $9.5M to help rice farmers cut water use and methane emissions through AI, satellite data and field operations.

Rice is one of the most important crops in the world, and also one of the hardest climate problems in agriculture.
What happened
Mitti Labs raised a $9.5 million Series A led by Aramco Ventures. Lightspeed India, Godrej Industries Group, Cisco, Francis Family Fund and Volta Circle also participated.
The company uses satellite imagery, AI and field operations to help rice farmers reduce water use and methane emissions. Its work focuses on making smallholder farming practices measurable enough to support better climate outcomes and, potentially, carbon-market participation.
Rice cultivation is water-intensive and produces methane when fields are continuously flooded. Reducing those emissions requires changes on the ground, but also monitoring systems that can prove what changed.
Why it matters
Agriculture climate tech is difficult because farms are distributed, margins are thin and measurement is messy. Mitti’s approach combines software, remote sensing and field execution instead of relying only on a dashboard.
That matters because climate claims in agriculture need evidence. Without credible measurement, emissions reductions are hard to finance, verify or scale.
The bigger picture
Food and agri-tech is moving toward infrastructure for climate-resilient farming. The opportunity is not just selling tools to farmers, but connecting farms to data, financing, buyers and carbon systems.
Mitti’s round shows that investors are still backing climate solutions when the environmental problem is large and the measurement layer is clear.
