Meta acquires Conductor for AI coding interface

Developers are working with more coding agents. Meta is buying one of the tools used to coordinate them.

What happened

Meta has acquired Conductor, a developer tool for managing multiple coding agents and their workspaces. Conductor confirms the move and has set out a transition for existing users.

Its cloud service is scheduled to become read-only on 13 November and shut down on 20 November. Local Conductor will continue receiving new models and critical fixes into early 2027.

Why it matters

An interface that helps developers organise agents can become part of their everyday workflow. Owning that interface gives an AI company another route into software development, alongside supplying the underlying models.

The bigger picture

For existing customers, the immediate task is moving their work before the cloud shutdown. For the market, the acquisition puts attention on the tools surrounding code generation: coordinating tasks, reviewing changes and keeping work manageable as agents produce more of it.
