Meshy raises $400M for AI-generated 3D

AI-generated images are already mainstream. Meshy’s new financing is a large bet that 3D creation will become the next major generative-media category.

What happened

Meshy raised nearly $400 million in a Series B at a $1.5 billion valuation. The company said all existing investors participated, but it did not identify a lead investor in the primary announcement.

Meshy converts text prompts and reference images into 3D models for games, design, animation and 3D printing. It reports 12 million registered users, more than 100 million generated assets and annual recurring revenue growth of approximately 12 times year over year. Those usage and growth figures are company-reported.

The financing will support model development, product expansion and the computing infrastructure required to generate more complex assets.

Why it matters

Creating a useful 3D object is harder than generating a flat image. The asset may need clean geometry, consistent textures, controllable topology and compatibility with game engines, animation tools or manufacturing workflows.

Reducing that work could shorten production cycles for small studios and allow designers to test more concepts before committing specialist labour.

The bigger picture

Generative media is becoming a collection of specialised markets rather than one image-model category. Video, audio, 3D and interactive worlds each require different data, architectures and production tools.

Meshy’s unusually large round suggests investors see 3D generation as a potential foundation layer for games, spatial computing and simulation. The lack of disclosed lead investors reduces transparency, however, and the company must show that high user growth converts into durable professional workflows rather than one-off experimentation.
