Mate Raises $35M for Autonomous Security
Mate Security raised $35 million to build AI-powered security operations software.

Security operations teams are overloaded, and AI is being pitched as the next layer of defensive automation.
What happened
Mate Security raised a $35 million Series A led by Canaan Partners, with Insight Partners, Team8 and Microsoft’s M12 participating. Total funding now stands above $50 million.
The company builds AI-powered security operations software for enterprise threat detection and response. Its pitch is that AI can help handle routine threats and response workflows that currently consume security-team time.
Why it matters
Security operations centres deal with too many alerts, too many tools and too few experienced analysts. AI agents could help triage and respond faster, but security is also one of the hardest places to hand over autonomy.
That tension makes Mate interesting. The product sits in an area where enterprises clearly need automation, but where mistakes can be expensive.
The bigger picture
Cybersecurity is becoming one of the first enterprise markets where AI autonomy will be tested seriously. The winners will need to combine speed with control, auditability and trust — not just claim that an agent can do the work.
