Robot perception is becoming one of the core infrastructure layers behind Physical AI. Lyte’s new round shows investors are still backing companies that help machines understand the messy real world, not just move through it.
What happened
Lyte raised a $165M Series C at a $1.6B post-money valuation, led by Maverick Silicon. The company was founded by former Apple engineers and builds perception technology for intelligent physical systems.
The round positions Lyte around one of the harder parts of robotics: turning sensor input into reliable understanding. Robots, autonomous vehicles, warehouse systems and industrial machines all need to interpret objects, movement and space before they can act safely.
Why it matters
The robotics market is crowded with humanoid demos and automation promises, but perception is one of the less flashy bottlenecks that determines whether those systems actually work outside controlled environments.
A large Series C for a perception-focused startup suggests capital is moving toward enabling layers of Physical AI: sensing, scene understanding, data capture and decision support.
The bigger picture
Physical AI is starting to look like a full stack. Models and robot bodies matter, but so do cameras, sensors, mapping, simulation, perception and safety systems. Lyte sits in that infrastructure layer, where the winners may be less visible than consumer-facing robots but more deeply embedded across industries.
