Lumilens Raises $900M for AI Connectivity
Lumilens emerged from stealth with more than $900M in funding to tackle optical interconnect bottlenecks inside AI data centres.

The AI infrastructure bottleneck is moving inside the data centre.
What happened
Lumilens emerged from stealth with more than $900 million in total funding, including more than $700 million in new funding, at a $5.51 billion valuation.
The company builds optical interconnect technology for AI data centres. It says it is already shipping into production AI data centres under a multi-billion-dollar customer agreement.
Why it matters
This is one of the strongest AI infrastructure signals of the week. The constraint is no longer only whether companies can buy enough GPUs. It is whether those GPUs can communicate efficiently enough to support larger, faster AI workloads.
Optical interconnects sit in that hidden but critical layer. Better connectivity can improve data movement, reduce bottlenecks and make large compute clusters more efficient.
The bigger picture
AI infrastructure is becoming a full-stack hardware market. Chips get the attention, but networking, memory, power, cooling and interconnects are becoming just as important.
Lumilens’ launch shows that investors are willing to fund the less visible parts of the AI stack when they solve a real scaling constraint.
