Lucida AI closes $7M for speech AI
Lucida AI closed a $7M seed round for its speech-to-speech AI platform for global communication and spoken language practice.

Speech AI is moving beyond transcription into real-time communication and language practice.
What happened
Lucida AI closed a $7M seed round for its speech-to-speech AI platform for global communication.
The round was led by Velocity Capital, with participation from Next Tier Ventures, Look AI Ventures, Bogazici Ventures, Yapı Kredi Frwrd Ventures and Ünlü & Co.
Why it matters
Speech-based AI can make learning and communication feel more natural than text-only tools. Lucida says it has reached more than 3M users and 2.2B minutes of spoken interaction, which suggests meaningful demand for AI that helps people practise and communicate out loud.
That makes this a useful edtech signal, especially as language-learning and communication tools become more interactive.
The bigger picture
The next wave of education AI may be less about static tutoring and more about real-time practice. Speaking, listening and feedback are hard to scale with human coaches alone.
Lucida AI fits that shift toward AI systems that act less like worksheets and more like conversation partners.
