Lottie Buys CareMaster for Care-Billing AI
Lottie’s acquisition pushes AI deeper into the back-office workflows of UK care providers.

Lottie’s CareMaster acquisition is a useful reminder that healthtech is not only about clinical apps. Some of the biggest operational pain points sit in billing, admin and back-office systems.
What happened
UK healthtech startup Lottie acquired CareMaster, a 25-year-old care billing software provider used by nearly 75 care providers across more than 750 UK care-home locations.
Lottie plans to fold CareMaster into its Found platform and use AI to reduce administrative work across billing, payments and credit control.
Why it matters
Social care is operationally complex and administratively heavy. Providers deal with resident records, payments, local authority processes, billing cycles and staffing constraints. Those workflows are often fragmented across older software systems.
By acquiring CareMaster, Lottie gains distribution into care providers and a practical workflow where AI could reduce repetitive admin rather than sit as a standalone assistant.
The bigger picture
AI adoption in healthcare and care services may happen first in operational workflows rather than directly at the bedside. Billing, payments, documentation and scheduling are less glamorous than clinical AI, but they can materially affect provider efficiency and financial resilience.
