Leyden Labs raises €40M for nasal spray antivirals
Dutch biotech startup Leyden Labs raised €40M to advance its nasal spray platform for respiratory virus protection.

Respiratory viruses usually enter through the nose and airways. Leyden Labs is targeting that first point of infection with a nasal spray approach to antiviral protection.
What happened
Dutch biotech startup Leyden Labs raised €40M to advance its nasal spray platform for protection against influenza and other respiratory viruses.
Investors include the European Innovation Council Fund, Invest-NL, the Gates Foundation Strategic Investment Fund, ClavystBio and others. Invest-NL contributed €10M.
Why it matters
This is a strong biotech platform signal.
Leyden Labs is developing broadly protective nasal sprays that deliver antibodies directly to the respiratory mucosa, where airborne viruses typically enter the body. That makes the approach different from traditional vaccines or treatments that act later in the infection process.
The bigger picture
Pandemic preparedness and respiratory-virus protection remain major biotech priorities. Platforms that can offer broad, fast and practical protection could become strategically important beyond a single disease cycle.
