Laza Medical invests $160m in robotic cardiac imaging

What happened
Laza Medical announced up to $160 million in structured Series B financing, led by GE HealthCare, with returning investors including Unorthodox Ventures, PA MedTech and AMED.
The company is developing an AI-powered robotic imaging system for cardiac interventions. Its system remains under development and is not approved for commercial sale in any geography.
Why it matters
Image guidance helps clinicians navigate complex procedures. A system intended to make that workflow more consistent has to prove its performance within a demanding clinical environment, alongside meeting regulatory requirements.
The bigger picture
The financing backs further development rather than establishing clinical benefit or commercial readiness. The words up to also matter: the announcement describes a structured financing amount, which should not be rewritten as an unqualified claim that $160 million has all been received.
