Kodama Raises $7M to Bring Physical AI Into Forestry
The robotics company is starting with teleoperation and data collection as it works toward automating heavy forestry equipment.

Kodama has raised $7 million to develop physical AI for forestry equipment.
What happened
Konvoy Ventures and Breakwater Ventures co-led the financing, with climate and technology investors participating. Kodama is initially using teleoperation to assist heavy forestry machinery while collecting the real-world data needed for greater autonomy.
Why it matters
Forestry involves dangerous work, difficult terrain and machines that must respond to highly variable physical conditions. Teleoperation can improve safety immediately while creating training data for future autonomous systems.
The bigger picture
Many industrial robotics companies are taking a gradual route to autonomy. Starting with remote operation and human supervision can produce commercial value sooner and build the datasets needed to automate harder tasks later.
