Klang Raises €1.32M for Swedish Conversation AI
Klang raises funding and releases an open Swedish speech-to-text model that can run locally on standard hardware.

Klang is using a small funding round to make a bigger point about language-specific AI infrastructure in Europe.
What happened
Helsingborg-based Klang raised €1.32 million at a reported €13.2 million valuation.
The company builds conversation AI software that transcribes, summarises and analyses interviews, meetings and dialogues. Alongside the funding, Klang released Pianissimo, an open Swedish speech-to-text model that can run locally on a standard laptop.
That local deployment angle matters for organisations that handle sensitive conversations and want to avoid sending audio data into external cloud systems.
Why it matters
Most speech AI attention goes to large multilingual systems built by global model labs.
Klang is more interesting as a regional infrastructure story. Smaller language markets still need high-quality transcription and conversation analysis, but they also face data-protection, sovereignty and domain-specific accuracy requirements.
An open Swedish model gives local companies and institutions more control over how speech AI is deployed.
The bigger picture
Europe’s AI opportunity will not only come from competing with frontier labs at the largest model scale.
There is also room for localised AI infrastructure built around specific languages, regulatory expectations and enterprise workflows. Klang sits in that more focused layer of the market.
