The startup was selected to install 700 Level 2 curbside chargers across all five boroughs over three years.
The programme will replace 88 pilot chargers and add roughly 600 new units, with deployment focused in part on areas where rideshare drivers and other high-mileage users lack off-street parking.
Why it matters
Home charging is one of the biggest advantages of owning an EV, but that advantage disappears for apartment residents and drivers without private parking.
Curbside infrastructure can make EV ownership more practical in dense cities without requiring large standalone charging sites.
The bigger picture
EV infrastructure is becoming increasingly local and urban-specific.
Rather than relying only on motorway fast chargers and private garages, cities will need a mix of curbside, workplace and fleet charging. It's electric's 700-unit award is a meaningful test of whether distributed street charging can scale as public infrastructure.
