Pregnancy diagnostics is still an underfunded corner of healthtech. iPremom’s seed round is notable because it targets earlier risk detection, where better information could change how care is monitored before complications become acute.
What happened
iPremom raised a €15M seed round led by Amadeus APEX and Asabys. The company is developing MaiRa, a first-trimester blood test that uses cell-free RNA to assess the risk of pregnancy complications.
The funding is intended to support clinical validation, commercial availability and regulatory work in Europe and the US.
Why it matters
Many pregnancy complications are managed reactively, after symptoms or risks become more visible. Earlier screening could help clinicians identify higher-risk pregnancies sooner and tailor monitoring before emergency interventions are needed.
The round is also a useful femtech signal. Women’s health has historically received less venture funding than its clinical importance would suggest, but diagnostics with clear medical utility can still attract specialist capital.
The bigger picture
Healthtech is becoming more specific. Rather than broad wellness platforms, investors are backing tools that sit inside defined clinical workflows: screening, risk stratification, monitoring and decision support. iPremom fits that shift by using molecular data to target a clear gap in prenatal care.
