Instinct Raises $1B at $10B Valuation

Personal-agent startup Instinct raises a large Series C as investors price consumer AI agents aggressively.

Instinct Raises $1B at $10B Valuation

Instinct has raised one of the largest recent rounds in consumer AI, reflecting investor conviction that personal agents can become a major software category.

What happened

The personal-agent startup confirmed a $1 billion Series C from investors including Sequoia Capital, Benchmark and Coatue.

The round values the company at $10 billion and came only about a month after a financing that valued Instinct at $2.5 billion.

Its agent can handle tasks including travel booking, purchases, bill payment, subscription cancellation and phone calls.

Why it matters

The valuation jump shows how aggressively investors are pricing consumer AI agents that can transact, not just answer questions.

Instinct's pitch is that an assistant becomes much more valuable when it can take action across real-world services. That requires broad access to personal data and accounts, which also creates privacy and trust challenges.

The bigger picture

Consumer AI may split between assistants that provide information and agents that actually complete tasks.

The second category could be much more commercially valuable, but only if users trust agents with payments, credentials and sensitive decisions. Instinct's raise is a major bet on that shift.
