Insilico’s AI-discovered drug reaches Phase III dosing
Insilico Medicine has begun dosing patients in a Phase III trial of an AI-discovered drug candidate for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.

AI drug discovery is reaching the point where the industry has to prove that better models can translate into successful late-stage medicines.
What happened
Insilico Medicine began dosing the first patient in the Phase III GENESIS-IPF-3 study of rentosertib, an investigational treatment for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. The trial is expected to enrol around 320 patients across 47 centres in China.
Why it matters
Reaching Phase III is a much harder validation point than generating a promising molecule or completing an early trial. Clinical efficacy, safety and execution now matter more than the discovery story.
The bigger picture
The next phase of AI biotech will be judged by approved drugs, not model benchmarks. Insilico’s programme is becoming one of the clearest tests of whether AI-assisted discovery can survive the full clinical-development pipeline.
